At Opticaid, we pride ourselves on developing and selling our own brand of Remaldi® reading glasses and sunglasses which is now synonymous with great quality, design and choice. There’s something for everyone – from trend-led contemporary looks and eye-catching colour to the more subtle everyday, but we guarantee our frames will be a pleasure to own. We only use top-quality frame and lens materials, ensuring Remaldi® glasses are lightweight, hard-wearing and provide clear vision, as well as being excellent value.
We realise the demand for quality reading glasses continues to increase, not only because we spend more time looking at digital devices but because customers like to have glasses dotted conveniently around their home and buy glasses to create different fashion looks. We like to think of them as fashion with function!
Our team regularly updates the collection so we can always offer you something new and exciting. In our quest to Reuse, Reduce, Recycle and Rethink many of our frames are now made from recycled plastics saving them from landfill.

Our Name
Opticaid was founded in 1989 by Roger Marchbank and his small team. Whilst Roger’s background was in woollen textiles, he had plenty of entrepreneurial spirit and realised there was soon to be a growing market for quality “off the peg” reading glasses.
Whilst the Remaldi® name may sound like in originates from Europe, it comes all the way from sunny Yorkshire! In fact the name is a combination of Roger’s initials REM and “aldi” is a play on words after Roger’s mother, who was fondly known as Addy.
Over 35 years later we are still proud to be a family-run business. The company is now managed by Roger’s daughter-in-law, Gillian Marchbank, alongside her senior management colleagues Linda Whitfield and Greg Marchbank. The professional team strives to offer friendly, flexible customer service alongside an extensive range of top-quality optical products.

As well as our design led reading glasses and sunglasses we sell Remaldi® glasses chains, cases, fun spec holders, and products that solve those niggly optical problems, which we all experience as we age
Our bestselling night driving glasses and overglasses help to remove optical glare and as the name suggests can be worn over your prescription glasses, whilst Angling Eyes provide help for those closeup fiddly tasks such as attaching a fishing fly!
